Task Categories

For: Scheduler, Administration

Topics: Time Keeping

For companies using timekeeping, task categories make it easier to organize, sort, and manage job tasks.

Start by going to your Task List. From there, you can create categories to group related tasks. For example, you might create a category for Silt Fence, Concrete, or Site Prep.

If a category already exists, you can assign it to a task right away. If not, you can create a new category on the spot and save it. Once created, that task is now tied to the selected category.

After categories are assigned, tasks can be sorted up or down by category in the task list. This makes it easier to keep similar work grouped together instead of scrolling through a long, unorganized list.

On the Schedule page, when you click Add Task to a job, you can also sort tasks by category. You can search for a specific category and only show tasks assigned to it, making it faster to find the right task when building out a job.

If you need to clean things up, go back to the Task List. From there, you can delete a category entirely. You’ll have the option to delete all tasks assigned to that category at the same time.

If you only want to remove a category from a single task, open the task and click the X next to the category. The task stays in place, but the category is removed.

Task categories help keep timekeeping organized and make it easier to find, assign, and manage tasks across jobs.
